Distance from Tucson
40 miles southeast
Directions
Take I-10 east to exit 281 and go south for about 20 miles on hwy 83
The attraction of this trip is the scenery as the highway winds through beautiful rolling grasslands studded with oak trees. Nearer Sonoita, the land flattens out into plains which look like the Midwest. This has been cattle country since the 1690s when Father Kino introduced 150 head of cattle.
There are few stores and restaurants, including a good steak house, at the junction of hwy 82. From the junction you can head out to many adventures.
