The city of South Tucson is located at the junction of Interstates 19 and 10 about 65 miles north of Nogales, Mexico. The city of South Tucson was finally reincorporated in 1940. This mile square community is located a mile and a half south of downtown Tucson, and is completely surrounded by Tucson. This cultural diversity boasts some of the finest Mexican restaurants in the state, and accounts for architectural styles, native artwork, and colorful surroundings. Visitors from throughout the metropolitan area are attracted to South Tucson's annual Saint Patrick's Day Parade and to the Music Festival Street Fair held in August.
