Realtor Consultation Appointment

What should happen at this very first important meeting?

  • Plan to visit with your Realtor a minimum of one hour or more.

  •  Your Realtor will utilize your Dream Home worksheet to get to know you and find out what is important to you and why these things are important to you.

  • You should expect your Realtor to truly listen to your needs, not be rushed, and to give you full attention.

  • The Realtor must be able to reiterate back to you what you are looking for. You should feel comfortable that this person truly understands you.

  • The Realtor must be honest and professional. This means that they will be respectful of your desires and educate you as to whether the marketplace today matches your expectations. The Realtor should help guide you, not push you, in defining realistic real estate goals.

  • The Realtor must ask you minimal basic financial questions to determine the reality of what you can afford to purchase.

  • You must be given time to ask the Realtor questions about their credentials and
exactly how they run their business and how that will affect you?

What should I expect as a result of the first meeting?

  • At the conclusion of the first meeting you should be confident that the Realtor truly has your best interest at heart.

  • You should understand WHO will be showing you homes – whether this will be theRealtor assistant or the Realtor herself. If the assistant will be showing you homes, you should be informed of how much involvement the Realtor will have in your transaction.

  • You should be comfortable with the level of knowledge that this Realtor has about our community and has expert knowledge in the area, price and range of housing that you want to invest in.

  • You should understand Arizona agency law and the role of the Realtor as a Buyers agent. You were given the option to enter into an agreement with her. This agreement should spell out how her fee is paid, the time you work together, her duties and the commitment made to each other.

  • Your goals were written down and a plan regarding the purchase process was agreed upon.

  • You are excited about having this Realtor work for you. You are more relaxed andyour fears have been replaced with excitement and anticipation.

Should all these items NOT be a result of your first Realtor meeting -THEN GO FIND ANOTHER REALTOR! YOUR HOME PURCHASE IS ONE OF THE BIGGEST DECISIONS OF YOUR LIFE!
